London Road Clinic Supports Local Community Group

The London Road ENT Clinic in Leicester, ran by leading ENT (Ear Nose Throat) experts, and often visited by international visitors seeking the latest treatments and care – now provides a free meeting base for Leicestershire’s first community group, providing support for the people of Leicestershire with severe balance disorders.

The support group, Life On The Level, was launched late last year in response to the lack of any support groups or non medical services focused upon helping anyone with serious balance disorders.

Support Group Co-Founder, Kevin Higgs explained “After suffering from a balance condition, myself, I have had first-hand experience of the devastating symptoms and how this can be life changing and be a cause of great anxiety. Even with the great medical care provided by such as the London Road clinic and the NHS, there has never been anyone to offer practical support, advice, empathy and hope to people with these conditions. Yet the most severe sufferers face significant and negative changes to their normal life. Life On The level community support group now intends to change this, and is very grateful to the clinic for helping us in this key way”

Leicester’s London Road Clinic provides a centre of excellence for all ENT conditions, and sees many patients suffering from balance issues. Based on London Road for some 14 years, the clinic is now recognised as a centre of excellence for treatment throughout the world.

Clinic Manager, Caren Hodgson added

“We were pleased to offer our assistance to the support group when Kevin approached us last year, by displaying their leaflets, as we obviously see more than most how patients’ lives can be so badly affected by these conditions and although effective treatment of the symptoms is very important, the support group can help with the more general issues affecting people living with these conditions”

Whilst private healthcare clinics are often seen as accessible by only the wealthy, the reality is that many people of all walks of life access these facilities via low cost appointments and private health insurance. Caren explained “All of our clinicians and staff are Leicester people, and as part of our community we are delighted to actively help and support any work that benefits people in our community, especially with a cause so close to our own hearts, we are excited to invite the support group into our facilities and help them deliver their own services.”
